4 Album / 3CD set of keyboards-driven instrumental Prog / Synth music from the 1970’s that sounds as fresh and classic in 2023 as it did back in the 70’s!

For many, these S.F.F. albums will be will be totally unknown, but believe me when I tell you they are German instrumental gems from the 1970’s that are not to be missed!!

The lucky few who know of the German instrumental trio will be delighted to see this music on CD once more, but for the yet to be converted, S.F.F. cross the Prog and Synth music divide (leaning more to the Prog end) and you have to think instrumental early symphonic KING CRIMSON or GREENSLADE meets SKY as the melange of Mellotrons, Moogs, electric piano, string ensemble, electric and acoustic guitars, bass and drums create a timeless magical, melodic symphonic sound that is simply sensational.

S.F.F. (Eduard Schicke, Gerd Fuhrs and Heinz Frohling), had an orchestral style sound that was overwhelming and fascinating.
With Dieter Dierks (SCORPIONS, WALLENSTEIN, NEKTAR etc.) the band found an excellent producer for their debut album: ‘Symphonic Pictures’, which was released in 1976 on the Brain label and sold around 12,000 copies!
The trio's popularity grew mainly due to their unforgettable live concerts - "It was a bit like magic and an overwhelming intensity that took the audience and the band together into another world."
In this context, the German S.F.F. gigs in 1977 and, of course, the Brain Festival in 1978, from which two tracks appear on this collection, should be mentioned.
In 1977 and 1978 S.F.F. recorded two more records with Dieter Dierks: ‘Sunburst’ and ‘Ticket To Everywhere’. After the recording of the last album, musical and ideological differences arose and the trio disbanded. Gerd lived in Bremen until his tragic death in November 1992. He worked in Japan, the USA, England and Germany for Yamaha, who considered Gerd one of the best programmers / keyboard consultants in the world. This CD release is dedicated to his memory.

The S.F.F. line-up features: Eduard Schicke (drums / percussion / Moog synthesizer / metallophone / xylophone), Heinz Frohling (electric guitar / bass / acoustic guitar / Mellotron) and Gerd Fuhrs (grand piano / electric piano / Moog synthesizer / string ensemble / clavinet / Mellotron and other keyboards.

This wonderful 3-Disc set runs up almost 3¼ hours of instrumental gold and comes packaged in a thick style Double Jewelcase with a 12-Page Booklet included that features the history of the trio and a gallery of photographs.

‘Complete Recordings’ was released on 14th July 2023.
